dock10 is 'Highly Commended' at Broadcast Tech Innovation Awards
dock10 has been 'Highly Commended' for its Match of the Day Virtual Studio in the category of Technical Innovation in a Sports Broadcast at the Broadcast Tech Innovation Awards.
Now in its second year, The Broadcast Tech Innovation Awards shine a spotlight on the exceptional teams behind the most outstanding broadcast productions of the past twelve months. Entries are shortlisted by a judging panel made up of some of the television industry's biggest names.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the awards ceremony was transformed into a spectacular virtual event held in a virtual studio at dock10. Hosted by comedian Rachel Parris and Broadcast Tech editor Jake Bickerton, the virtual ceremony made good use of the cutting-edge technology celebrated in the awards.
dock10 was shortlisted in three categories: Best Innovation in Lockdown (Production) for its work on BBC Bitesize Daily that supported the delivery of the BBC's biggest ever education initiative in unprecedented circumstances; Best Use of Remote Production for its innovative remote gallery solution, in partnership with BBC Sport, that delivered a technically creative way for BBC Sport to provide live coverage of the FA Cup Final during the challenges of lockdown.
Also shortlisted in the category of Technical Innovation in a Sports Broadcast, dock10 was awarded a 'Highly Commended' for its Match of the Day Virtual Studio. In partnership with BBC Sport and AE Live, dock10 created an industry-leading 4k UHD-ready virtual studio for the nation's most watched football programme. Using the latest real-time rendering technologies, Match of the Day and all of the BBC's football programmes are now based within a 'BBC Sport football stadium' that includes fly-through augmented reality graphics such as team formations and data-driven analysis graphics. This creates a visually spectacular experience that significantly enhances insight and enjoyment of each game.
