dock10 at The Media Production & Technology Show 2024

Speaking at the AI Forum of The Media Production & Technology Show, dock10 looked at AI innovations and how this new tool can be used in production.

The Media Production & Technology Show is the UK's premier event for the media and entertainment industry, bringing technology and creativity together under one roof. For two days, more than 12,000 attendees from across the industry enjoyed networking, product discovery and exclusive content. Its interactive exhibition and extensive free seminar programme covered all aspects of broadcast content creation and technology, including pre-production, production, virtual production, post, distribution, audio and AI.

A new addition for 2024 was the AI Forum, which took a deep dive into the technology and looked at how AI might change live television, it's impact on the workforce, and case studies on how AI can be used to enhance content creation. Richard Wormwell, Head of Production Innovation at dock10 and Professor Florian Block, R&D Lead, AI & Immersive at dock10, spoke on AI in television production at two of these sessions.

‘AI for Live Virtual Production’ looked at how the future of media production lies at the convergence of TV, video games and immersive technology. It explored how audiences will increasingly demand novel cross-reality experiences, seamlessly blending human performance. In the second session, ‘AI: Tools of the Trade,’ they discussed where Artificial Intelligence can make a real difference, how much of a game-changer AI and machine learning is, how it's already benefitting broadcast businesses, how the industry is looking to adapt to it, and what technologies have already been adopted.

The sessions, and the AI Forum, proved popular as the industry and the wider world considers the growing role this new technology will play in future media production.
