Jon started his career designing audio signal processing equipment and mixing consoles for recording studios and broadcast, initially as a test engineer and later as part of the R&D team.
He joined ITV News in 2004 as Technical Manager, working on the transition to non-linear editing platforms as well as designing and implementing file based workflows and staff training. During his time at ITV, Jon acted as project manager for ITV’s move out of the Albert Dock site in Liverpool and into the Royal Liver Building, overcoming the challenges of preparing a Grade I listed building for life as a state-of-the-art news production centre.
Jon began consulting for Avid Technology in 2007, where he became a valued member of Avid’s Professional Services team, working at the forefront of tapeless production methods. He has performed workflow analysis, design & documentation along with bespoke user training of file based production methods to numerous major broadcasters across Europe, Middle East & North America.
His skills have enabled high profile transitions for major broadcasters across the UK and worldwide, with notable projects including Coronation Street’s tapeless, high definition switchover, NBC’s adoption of file based workflows and BBC Scotland’s launch of tapeless production.
Since 2011, Jon employs his industry experience working with dock10’s clients to design and implement workflows, whilst utilising technology advancements to enable end-to-end production efficiencies & cost savings. He is also heavily involved in dock10 future technology directions such as file-based delivery, media asset management, production in the cloud & digital archive strategies and is Technology Lead for Field dock, dock10’s ‘IBC Innovation Awards’ shortlisted remote ingest tool.
